Phillips finds music to be his passion

By Chris Rutledge

Since he was 11 years old, Steven Phillips has been playing the drums. A music major and drummer for the Commercial Music Ensemble, much of Phillips's time is dedicated to the instrument. Originally he started playing because, "It just looked cooler than everything else in music. It always seemed like in school that girls like drummers, so that was a place I needed to be," he explained sarcastically. When he was younger, he was a big fan of Dave Grohl and Jimmy Chamberlin and cites both as big influences.

"There has been a preliminary master development plan for Greensboro North. What that is, is a conceptual plan for what they want to be there," explained Gallatin City Staff Planner Kevin Chastine, AICP. "The preliminary plan is sort of the conceptual broad strokes. And then they're going to come back with a very detailed plan."

SGA Forum Attendance Up, Participation Down

By Brandon K. Jones

The Student Government Association forum was Tuesday and the turn-out was impressive. "Apparently, we had a good showing this time, from what I understand we had a lot more students than last year," said SGA President Lindsey Overhalser. Unfortunately, the large crowd sat in complete silence. Not a student had a single question or comment the entire forum. All of the questions came either from the question box set up by the SGA or from calls from the various satellite locations.
