Concerts and movies could add to summer fun

Nashville will be seeing its fair share of concerts this summer.

On May 3, Rocketown will be hosting Battle of the Bands. Some of the bands scheduled to compete are Escaping the Crowd, Lazar Lazar, Faith in Shadows, and Gallatin's Saturday Morning Cartoons. The doors open at 5 p.m. and the show begins at 6 p.m. Admission is $8.

On May 22, The Lincoln County Fusion will be playing The French Quarter at 8:45 p.m. Then they will head down to Rocketown May 23 to play at an all day music festival. Admission has not been determined yet.

On June 6, He is Legend and Envy on the Coast will be playing at The Anchor. The show starts at 6 p.m. and admission is $12.
On June 11, Cobra Starship, Metro Station, We the Kings, and The Cab will be playing at Rocketown. Tickets can be purchased at www.selloutpresents.com for $12. The doors will open at 6 p.m. and the show will start at 7.

The Country Music Association festival will be June 5-8 in Nashville. Artists scheduled to perform include Trace Adkins, Bo Bice, Billy Ray Cyrus, Faith Hill, Little Big Town, Carrie Underwood, and many more. For a complete list of performers go to www.fanfair.com.

Looking for a way to beat the heat this summer? Check out some of these movies.
On May 2, "Made of Honor" hits theaters. This movie stars Patrick Dempsey, Beau Garret and Michelle Monaghan.

On June 30 "The Happening", a thriller about a family on the run from a natural crisis makes its way to theaters. Also on June 30 "The Incredible Hulk" premiers.

Wanting to do something for a good cause this summer?

Check out Greatstrides, a walk at the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere to increase cystic fibrosis awareness.

Mental Health Association of Middle Tennessee is looking for volunteers between Aprl 21-27 to help with the Jammin' to the Beat Blues and Blues Blitz Week to raise awareness for mental health. More volunteer work can be found at volunteermatch.org.

Students can find plenty of things to do this summer in their down time if they look hard enough. There are only local things listed above, much more can be found.
