Vol State and WVCP practicum student Justin Abaya, Vol State President Dr. Warren Nichols, Director of the Gallatin Chamber of Commerce Paige Strong, WVCP Manager Howard Espravnik and WVCP Operations Supervisor Holly Nimmo conducted the ribbon-cutting ceremony at Wednesday's grand re-opening celebration.

On Wednesday, Volunteer State Community College's WVCP 88.5 FM radio station officially re-opened its door with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its new location in Hal Reed Ramer Administration Building.

WVCP's previous studio was located in the Noble C. Caudill Hall Building and was severely damaged during the April 2006 tornado.
Among those present at the event were Vol State President Dr. Warren Nichols, WVCP's manager Howard Espravnik, Director of Gallatin Chamber of Commerce Paige Strong, Gallatin board members Brett Abernathy, Zena Parks, Patricia Walker, and Lorenda Stone, and Sumner Philanthropy foundation Vice President Stan Cole.

Among members of Vol State's community present at the event were Dean and Professor of Business Dr. John Espey, WVCP Operations Supervisor Holly Nimmo, as well as several Vol State staff and faculty members, and students.

"I am very pleased with the outcome of the studio," said Espravnik. "It took a lot of planning and meetings to get to this day."
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was conducted by Nichols, Espravnik, Strong, Nimmo, and Vol State and WVCP practicum student Justin Abaya.

After the ceremony, the attendees had the opportunity to take a tour inside the studio's rooms and learn more information about the function of each one of them.

"I feel pretty good working in this studio," said Vol State student and WVCP's disk jockey Robert Wilson. "I love having the opportunity to get experience in here because this is what I am planning to do in life."

The new WVCP's radio station is divided into four new sections: the reading/news room, rack room, control room, and the teaching/production studio.
