Volunteer State Community College will be hosting Movies by Starlight on Friday on the library lawn.

"We will be showing "The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep" and "National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets," said Gina Garera, student activities coordinator.

Candy, drinks, popcorn and more will be sold by different organizations during the movie, Garera added.

"The Water Horse" is about a boy who discovers a mysterious egg that hatches a sea creature of Scottish heritage, according to the internet movie data base's website, imdb.com. "The Water Horse" is rated PG.
"National Treasure 2" is about uncovering the mystery of the missing eighteen pages from assassin John Wilkes Booth's diary, stated imdb.com.

The movies start at 7:30 p.m.

"The movies by starlight sounds like a fun idea and it would be a cheap way to hang out with all my friends on the weekend," said Patrick McLaughlin, a Vol State student.
Parent-Child Date Night is also on Friday. It will take place in the Rochelle Center 6-7:15 p.m.

"It's a time where Vol State students can spend some time with their children here on campus," Garera said. "There will be many different activities for children and parents to do together, food will also be served."

Both activities are free and open to everyone.
