Campus-wide Easter egg hunt
Issue date: 3/24/08 Section: Entertainment
Congratulations to the "finders" in The Settler's first Easter Egg Hunt. And, "yes" we do plan to do it again in the fall.
Little did we know when we started, that this would bring such excitement to campus.
Thanks for checking the clues on The Settler's website, Settleronline.com. We just hope that you continue to check Settleronline.com for news, sports, opinions, photos and more.
For those of you that looked, but were unable to find our eggs, maybe an explanation of the clues will help
Egg 1: Under a table in the vending area of the John B. Wallace Health Sciences Building. Clue 1: You won't find me outside; I need to get to feeling better (a reference to being inside the health building). Clue 2: I'm new and different and split down the middle (the building is the newest on campus; its architecture is different than the rest of the buildings on campus; a lobby splits it down the middle as well as half of it is occupied by the Allied Health Division, while the other half is occupied by the Math and Science Division). Clue 3: I'm not in the cafeteria, but feel free to have a snack on me (hidden under the table in the break room).
Egg 2: Under a computer table in the hall of the E.G. Mattox Business Building. Clue 1: I've got homework, so I will be inside working on a computer today (a reference to being inside and the computers sitting on the table under which it was hidden). Clue 2: Quit goofing off, get down to business and find me (A reference to the building). Clue 3: Give me a call, but "On Campus Only" (Above the table where it was hidden are two telephones for "On Campus Calls Only").
Egg 3: Taped to the back of the "World Books" book drive box in the J. Howard Warf Building. Clue 1: I wish I could enjoy the pretty weather, but I am hanging out in a hall waiting for my next class (refers to the hall). Clue 2: A structure built into a body of water that ships are tied to (the definition of a wharf ). Clue 3: I can see the "World" from where I am (located on the "World Books" book drive box). Clue 4: I support book drives, because they support me (taped to the back of the "World Books" box).
Egg 4: Next to a book about Antarctica in the stacks on the second floor of the Thigpen Library. Clue 1: Sorry, I can't come out and play, I've got to do some serious studying (libraries are known for places to study). Clue 2: A campus-wide Easter Egg Hunt, what a "novel" idea (novel, of course, refers to the books). Clue 3: Brrrrr, I'm freezing next to the coldest continent (Antarctica). Clue 4: Come and get me, I've been shelved (on the shelf next to a book on Antarctica).
Egg 5: Under a rock, next to the bird house in the Campus Community Garden. Clue 1: I enjoy being outside where everything is blooming and budding (reference to being hidden outside). Clue 2: The "plot" thickens with me hiding among it (the garden plot on campus). Clue 3: Ah, Spring! Flowers, buds and robins nesting in birdhouses (hidden close to the birdhouse).
