Classes that once took place in Caudill Hall have been taking place in portable classrooms since Fall 2006.
Caudill Hall is the home of the dean of social sciences and the majority of their faculty.
Various classes including history and communications were taught in Caudill Hall.
According to Ken Lovett, Vol State's director of public relations, construction should be completed by the end of November.
"Pretty much all that is left is wiring," said Lovett. "Improvements include more classrooms, and will be ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) approved. From what I've heard they have done a wonderful job getting everything back in order."
In the Jan. 29, 2007 issue of The Settler, editor Brian Estes reported, "Cynthia Tschaepe, director of facilities, said that Southeast Contractors have agreed to repair Caudill Hall for an estimated $ 1,973,700.00."
Caudill Hall is home to Vol State's theatre with various theatrical productions being performed each year.
The theatre is scheduled to be completed by the end of the Spring 2008 semester.
"Improvements will include an orchestra pit, where the seats can be removed," said Edmon Thomas, asssociate professor of communication and theater.
Thomas said that showers will also be in the dressing rooms and they will have a costume room.
"The auditorium will have a state of the art sound and lighting system, and we will have a little more storage than we had before," said Thomas.
