Since sustaning damage in the April 2006 tornado, the Noble C. Caudill Hall has been under construction.
The theatre performers' venue was one of the many structures damaged that day.
"Water did a lot more damage than the tornado did," said Edmon Thomas, Associate Professor of Communication and Theatre.
With the roof blown off, water was able to leak onto the stage.
According to Thomas, the whole floor buckled, two walls and many seats were damaged.
The stage looked like waves from all the water damage.
The performers have had to improvise where they had their shows. They have used the carpeted dining area and other venues around town.
Once the theatre is rebuilt, it will be improved its facilities with the addition of showers in the dressing rooms, a sound booth, better handicap accessibility, removable chairs for an orchestra pit and a costume storage room.
James Story, Associate Professor of Music and department chair, is hoping for the Caudill building to be fully restored by next fall.
Thomas expects the stage to be completed by February allowing the performers to do a play mid-March.
Thomas is waiting on approval to do "12 Angry Jurors." Instead of the more common name "12 Angry Men" females will be able to act alongside males for the trial decision.
Even if the Caudill stage is not completed, the theatre will put on a play.
"We have to do a play and let people know we are still out here," said Thomas.
