Volunteer State Community College students can try their hand at filmmaking by entering the student video contest.
The contest is sponsored by the Office of Public Relations, the Office of Admissions and the bookstore.
Videos must be at least three minutes long and have a theme that ties into Vol State.
"Students could do a Vol State murder mystery, a drama or any thing they want to," said Eric Melcher, coordinator of communications and public relations. "We want some student perspective to what's going on around campus."
The videos will be judged by the faculty and staff.
The first place winner will receive an 8gb iPod Nano and second place will win an iPod Shuffle. The Vol State bookstore sponsors the third prize.
"The third place winner will receive a $50.00 gift card for the bookstore," said Jeff Hairfield, bookstore manager.
All videos must be submitted on DVD.
Videos with profanity or sexual content will not be considered.
There can be no copyrighted music or clips from movies in your videos.
"For example, students can't use a song by the band Green Day," said Melcher.
All entries must be in by November 28th.
The finalists and the winner will be announced on December 5th.
